Information on the course unit. ECTS: details. Course unit organization. Prerequisites: Knowledge of the Periodic Table of the Elements; basic knowledge on the thermodynamics and kinetics that regulate a chemical process; chemical bonds and Lewis structures; MO and VB theory; hybridized atomic orbitals Target skills and knowledge: At the end of the course the students will : 1 have understood the most important and general aspects that are the basis of the chemistry of organic compounds atoms relevant to the organic chemistry and their electronic structure , bonds and structure of the molecules , nomenclature , acid-base interactions, nucleophile - electrophile interactions, basic concepts concerning the mechanisms of organic reactions , stereochemistry 2 understand the principles that govern the reactivity of the most common classes of organic compounds.

Assessment criteria: The assessment of the preparation of the student will be based on the understanding of the different topics, on the acquisition of the concepts and the ability to apply them to the synthesis of mono-functional organic molecular structures. Descriptors of absolute and relative configuration. Simulation of the final exam will be also carried out at the end of the course.
